BIOTECHWORKS-H2 Signs Strategic Memorandum of Understanding with Nigeria’s Elsahal Group — 3,500 Tons per Day Waste-to-Hydrogen Project Planned in Kano State

Press Release – February 12, 2025

BIOTECHWORKS-H2 Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Akihide Nishikawa) announced that on November 5, 2025, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Elsahal Group Ltd., a Nigerian conglomerate, regarding a strategic partnership for the Waste-to-Hydrogen “ZERO WASTE” project.

As the first phase of this initiative, the parties are planning a waste treatment project with a processing capacity of 3,500 tons per day in Kano State, the largest commercial and industrial city in northern Nigeria, with a population of approximately 14 million.

Under this MOU, the companies will leverage BIOTECHWORKS-H2’s waste-to-hydrogen technology and its digital traceability system “REBORN” to jointly conduct waste composition analysis and feasibility studies, introduce and optimize the technology locally, and establish investment schemes in collaboration with relevant government authorities.

The MOU also includes an agreement to discuss potential strategic investment by Elsahal Group into BIOTECHWORKS-H2 or its affiliated project companies.

Following its expansion into Southeast Asia, this partnership marks a significant step in accelerating the company’s full-scale entry into the African market. Together with Elsahal Group, BIOTECHWORKS-H2 aims to promote the “ZERO WASTE” model throughout Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa. If realized, the 3,500 tons per day project in Kano State will become the largest project undertaken by the company to date.
